My stories are raw, often poignant, usually funny takes on parenthood, sex and middle age, on the loss of loved ones and the growth we all experience on our journeys through life.  While I continue to plug away at the novels you'll one day find in a bookstore near you (if those even exist when I finally finish!), these stories I tell around Los Angeles, in virtual showcases and share on my blog are there to give you a chuckle and let you know you're not alone in seeing the absurdity in 76% of the decisions we must confront as parents or in the challenges we face on any given day.

Since May 2014, I've had the pleasure of sharing my stories with the fabulous writers and story tellers at Beverly Mickins' Story Salon in North Hollywood.  I make a point to get there with a Story to Tell at least once a month.  You can link to several of the stories that I've shared at the Salon in my blog.  Others may soon be published and you'll find those links here too.  Ever optimistic....

Once Upon Another Time

Fairytales and Foibles from a 1970s Childhood

Saturday, February 22, 2020

I brought my One Woman Show to life with an hour-long reading of seven of my favorite stories from growing up in North Carolina in the 1970s. We had a full house at Story Salon and feasted on Twinkies while sipping Boone's Farm from solo cups. It was a magical night, made even more so in hindsight as it was one of 2020's last in-person gatherings. Had we known, we'd have hugged longer, smiled bigger without masks and indulged in a few more cups of Tickle Pink! Ah, but the script is the basis for my upcoming memoir so there's that to look forward to!

The Otter Story Hour

February, 1, 2021 and December 7, 2020

Once a month, host Rex McDaniel invites folks to this LIVE show in the basement of Griffin's of Kinsale, an Irish pub in old town South Pasadena. I long for the days when LIVE means IN PERSON, but for now, I've been grateful to tell tales in the Covid-safe Facebook Live pandemic productions.

LIVE on Zoom

BACKSTORY is a bi-monthly evening of true stories, fiction and poetry.

Using the title of a classic stage play or movie as inspiration, storytellers and poets write poems and stories to be read aloud.  BACKSTORY productions are consistently fascinating and eclectic evenings of LIVE poetry and prose. I'll be part of the ANGELS IN AMERICA program and look forward to hearing the rest of the cast's take on the theme! Tickets are just $10!
